Kancil’s Hungry Stomach
Kancil, an animal known for his cleverness, walks along the edge of the forest. The bright sunlight made him feel refreshed, but his stomach began to rumble with hunger.
Si Kancil: “Sigh… whine… My stomach is so hungry.”
Craving for Cucumbers
While walking, Kancil imagined the deliciousness of cucumber, his favorite food. However, the cucumber garden he wanted was across a large river.
Si Kancil: “Ah, how delicious it would be if I could enjoy my favorite cucumber. Too bad the cucumber garden is across the river.”
Meeting with Crocodiles
While thinking hard, Kancil saw several crocodiles sunbathing on the river bank. Without hesitation, he approached one of them.
Si Kancil: “Hello, crocodile friend! How are you today?”
Crocodile: “We’re fine, Kancil. How can we help you?”
Kancil’s plan
The Kancil explained that he had come with good news on orders from the King of the Forest to count the number of crocodiles in the river.
Si Kancil: “I came on orders from the King of the Forest to count the number of crocodiles in this river. The King wants to give gifts to all of you.”
Caution Crocodiles
The crocodiles were happy with the news, but they wanted to make sure it was true.
Crocodile: “Very good news! But, how can we be sure that you bring news from the King of the Forest?”
Agreement
The Kancil gave a convincing explanation to the crocodiles, making them believe.
Si Kancil: “You don’t need to worry. I will help you and we will all get gifts from the King of the Forest.”
Fraud Exposed
After successfully crossing the river by tricking the crocodiles, Kancil revealed his lie.
Si Kancil: “Hi, crocodiles! I didn’t actually bring news from the King of the Forest. I just tricked you so you could cross this river.”
The Sadness and Anger of the Crocodiles
The crocodiles felt cheated and were angry at Kancil’s cleverness.
Crocodile: “You naughty Kancil! We will not forget this. Watch out if we meet again!”
Mouse Deer’s Happiness
Even though the crocodiles were angry, Kancil still ran happily towards the cucumber garden to enjoy his food feast.
Si Kancil: “Ha… ha… ha… Now it’s time for me to enjoy my favorite cucumber!”
