Thai Folklore: Kanchana, the Parrot that Savior of the Kingdom

Long ago, in the fertile land of Siam, there lived a wise king named Raja Chakraphat.

This king ruled fairly and had a beautiful daughter named Nalin.

The princess, apart from her beauty, was also known for her kind heart and intelligence.

One day, King Chakraphat was taking a walk in the green and beautiful gardens of his palace.

In the midst of the noisy leaves, the King’s eyes were fixed on a colorful parrot.

The bird looked very intelligent, and without hesitation, King Chakraphat decided to take it to the palace.

The parrot was named Kanchana, and soon became the entertainment of the court.

Kanchana is not only physically beautiful, but also has the extraordinary ability to speak and understand human languages.

King Chakraphat was very happy with his discovery and often played and talked with Kanchana.

Kanchana also becomes a close friend of Nalin, the princess.

The two of them often spend time together, share stories, and learn from each other.

Kanchana quickly became an integral part of royal life.

One day, King Chakraphat threw a big party in the palace to celebrate peace and happiness in his kingdom.

Many guests from various parts of the country attended to celebrate together.

Kanchana, the intelligent parrot, joins in the fun.

In the midst of a merry feast, Kanchana suddenly said, “Oh, King Chakraphat, there is an uninvited guest here.”

The curious King Chakraphat asked, “Who is he, Kanchana?”

Kanchana replied, “She was a beautiful woman wearing a green dress. She was hiding among the trees behind the palace.”

The king immediately ordered his guards to look for the woman.

Although the guards initially didn’t find anything, after careful searching, they finally found a beautiful woman hiding among the trees.

The woman was arrested and brought before the king.

King Chakraphat sternly asked, “Who are you, and why are you hiding here?”

The woman couldn’t hide her evil intentions and admitted in a firm voice, “I am a witch. I want to kill you and seize your throne.”

The wise King Chakraphat immediately decided to punish the witch woman for the safety of his kingdom.

The guards took the woman away, and the punishment was carried out as a lesson to the others.

Raja Chakraphat and his daughter, Nalin, were very grateful to Kanchana who had informed them about the threat.

King Chakraphat gave a very valuable gift to Kanchana as a token of gratitude.

Kanchana became a special protector at court and was respected throughout the kingdom.

Nalin, the princess, grows to love Kanchana for her intelligence and important role in saving the kingdom.

The two creatures lived happily in a peaceful kingdom, and the story of the brave Kanchana and the wise King Chakraphat became a legend told from generation to generation.

The lesson to be drawn from this story is that wisdom can come from unexpected places, and we must always be alert to the dangers that may lurk.

Sometimes, even an intelligent parrot can become an unexpected hero.
